Pitchfork is reporting that Swedish producer Axel Willner (a.k.a. The Field) wanted to come to United States with his new band for a little tour, but United States immigration officials had rejected their visa applications and barred them and all of their gear from entering the country. Oops! Willner has been forced to cancel all US dates, including his gig at Coachella festival on Sunday.

Come on Barack, you can (and hopefully will) fix this immigration shit!

The Field's Band, Gear Denied Entry to U.S.; Tour Nixed [Pitchfork]

After last years mix for Fabric (Fabric 34), Berlin-based DJ, producer and Bpitch Control label boss Ellen Allien has mixed the fourth installment of the label's Boogy Bytes compilation series. Boogy Bytes Vol. 4 is set to drop at the end of March.

After previous efforts from BPC labelmates Kiki, Sascha Funke and Modeselektor, Allien has put together 15 tracks into — as she puts it — an "emotional, noisy, trippy, weird, and sexual" live set. The mix features cuts from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Melchior Productions, Friendly People and others.

British DJ superstars Sasha & John Digweed will launch a month-long club tour next month, more than five years after their acclaimed Delta Heavy North American run. The duo will tour United States, Canada and Mexico, taking on 21 cities in one month. The tour kicks off during the Winter Music Conference in Miami and hits all major U.S. cities, including New York, Boston, Chicago, Detroit and San Francisco.

Digweed said in a statement:

Both Sasha and myself have been talking for ages about touring the states together again, but really wanted to go back to our underground roots as recently the only shows we have done together have been massive festival events. So this time around we are playing a great selection of clubs with great sound systems rather than big arena shows, which will give our fans a chance to see us in a more intimate environment.

When I'm DJing I like to compose. I'm always bringing vocals or acapellas into my sets. Vinyl is like an analogue instrument and you must do something with that instrument. It's meant as material for young DJs to do something with. DJs should do things like record keys at home and then mix things together. I think that makes things more exciting, when people at a club night suddenly hear an acapella from a seventies hit. You are bringing two worlds together. This allows you to advance electronic music.

I'm not sure about such statements after listening to his recent Essential Mix. Whatever.

The 2008 Demon Days — a series of electronic music events that take place in key North American cities — will kick off with special New York City quarterly residency launch party at Cielo on Thursday, February 14th (yup, that's Valentine's Day).
