Review of Roland CY12RC V-Cymbal Ride/Crash (12 in.)

Feature:
It comes with a mount for your boom that let's it swing in and out when you play it, but keeps the choke edge pointed towards you.

Value:
Pretty stiff, but worth it. I like my Roland cymbals better than Hart or Pintech gear.

Desirability:
If you use Roland gear, you need one of these. Get the 15 if you can afford it. I'm going to upgrade to one as soon as I can, but I will keep this one for a crash.

Sound:
It's good. Pretty broad range of sensitivity. You have to hit the bell pretty hard to get it to trigger.

Support:
Never used them. No problems with my Roland gear yet.

Overall:
It's a pretty heavy piece which I think makes it feel much more like an accoustic cymbal. Your ride is one of the most used pieces on your kit, so get a good one.

Good features, horrible reliability.

Quality:
Roland should be ashamed of themselves, these things are not suitable for much more than 10 uses, and I'm not a heavy hitter.

Value:
Buy the PD-8 instead, it doesn't swing but it's built to outlast this thing 10 fold.

Desirability:
Read above.

Sound:
Worked okay for awhile, then started false triggering shortly after getting it...all 3 on my V-Tour kit, just not built to last.

Support:
Big company, hard to get ahold of support.

Overall:
Avoid this one, the crap out quickly.

Trone, bass pedal and sticks works nice, basic.

Quality:
good quality both trone and pedal

Value:
good quality but for $175, too expensive...

Desirability:
it's a seat, pedal and sticks-- not sexy :-) but useful if you have drums and none of them for the price of $175, I'd buy separate items from different brands, just as good.

Sound:
they don't make sounds except the trone's tiny squeek if your turn, instead they help you make noise :-)

Support:
never have to use them for these

Overall:
I'll have them as long as I have my Roland Vdrums

Good placement of the controls and digital hookup.

Quality:
The speaker with the controls bleeds air through the buttons so it's not sealed as well as I would like.

Value:
If your liiking for some computer monitors with digital hookups for games or to listen to music, then these are good. other than that you can get better

Desirability:
The cases are wood (This is good)

Sound:
These have a very good sound for computer monitors but the are not up to the task of a good studio monitor. Sound gets distorted when there is alot of bass.

Overall:
Depends on what your looking for. If you want some good studio monitors I suggest getting KRK Rockit monitors, either the RP5 $300 a pair, RP6 $400 a pair or RP8 $500 a pair. You do not want these to mix on unless you want a bargin comparison set

Ease of Use:
It's very playable. I don't play any instruments or been in any band before but I have an Ear, if you wnat to call it that, for music. What feature hasn't it got? It is truly a workstation from start to finish. (except it has no cdr drive)

Quality:
It is buy far the best looking of the big 3. I have had some knobs break off and buttons pushed in but that was from roadies who did not care.

Value:
It is pricy but it is state of the art. I would not buy it if I were not a pro. It has to make me money to spend $2500

Sound:
The sounds are nice and warm. It fills up a mix very nicely. Yama and Korg are too bright for my taste.

Ease of Use:
For doing as much as this puppy does, it is moderately hard to learn but the color lcd makes it much easier. Any piece of gear that is this deep needs good feedback.

Support:

Desirability:
It's an impressive piece with impressive sounds. I would be honored to have it in my studio. I have to bring paper towels to the retailer because I drool over it every time I touch it. I want it, I want it So Bad!!!

Sound:
INREDIBLE. Go check it out. A plethora of Synthesized as well as realistic sounding tones. Cool pitch bend for guitar. You can even add the fret slides. Amazing orchestral section. They recycle some old sounds from previous Roland products, but there is still lots of new stuff too

Quality:
Excellent quality, I am impressed with roland in making a phenomenal piece of hardware.

Value:
The fantom isn't the cheapest, but its far from being a rip off. quality demands premium price

Sound:
Sound quality is quite good. I would recommend that you use a good mixer and EQ to get the sound you want out of the fantom, and to also mess with the patches to get your desired sound.

Ease of Use:
This unit is not the easiest piece of hardware to handle, for sure. But if you are well versed in studio equipment and synthesizers then the learning curve will be much better for you.

Quality:
It`s roland, so i don`t need to say more. I have the keyboard only for 1 month but it looks very solid.

Value:
The best buy for what it is, a great piano with some more features. It costs me Euros 1.180. I compare with yamaha P-90 and that has the same price, but has just a good sound, the piano and no usb.

Desirability:
I think the piano is quite good, the silver with black its much prettier than the gold of FP-5.

Sound:
Great piano, and this is the important thing on this product. Also the GM2, very good drum kits.

Support:
Don`t need it yet so i can`t say anything. This is my first roland gear.

Overall:
I`m very well with this one, i don`t think i`ll change it for a couple of years. If was stollen i would buy it again.

I love that the note-holder is clear transparent, so I do not get seperatet from my listener or the band and have still the possibility to place sheet-music if needed.

Quality:
Great metal casing. Looks expensive and elegant.

Value:
I have 2 FP5, one for the studio and one for the GIGs, and I can do this, because the price of $ 1400 is just fine. There are a little better e-pianos on the marked, but they are $ 1000 more expensive, and this was to much money for the improvment.

Desirability:
It looks very elegant, great for dinner music or living room. Great that you can buy matching stand.

Sound:
Real piano like sound,...gave only 9, because high oktaves are a little week in relation the beautifull sound of the mid and low range. I compensate this by using doal voicing (Piano 1 withe Pad/strings 5) for Newage songs and rock ballades. So please start to make the higher oktaves in the pianosounds stronger, more full or little more chorus. The build in speakers should be stronger. (10W each!)

Support:

The ability to change patches on the synth from the guitar / pickup assembly it a great feature! I have spent the last few days programming the different patches and I am very pleased. THe ability to have different strings play different patches on my synth is awesome.

Quality:
I would have rated this a 12 if the option was there. Absolutely the best piece of equipment I have ever purchased.

Value:
Again, I would have rated this a 12 as well.

Desirability:
To be able to play Pads through a synth by using my guitar is sooper sexy.

Sound:
Sound here would be how well this thing tracks. I just purchased a Roland synth and tied the two together. Man! How awesome. The thing tracks amazingly well. One thing to note it that the pickup placement is critical. I had to experiment with different placements until I got one that worked. Get the pickup place right and you won't believe how cool this unit is.

Support:
Ten just because I haven't needed it. A company that can make something that supports itself is A-OK in my book...

Overall:
I will be using this for years. I can't wait to incorporate it into our live show.

Roland GK2B Divided Pickup for Bass and V-Bass The new GK-2B Divided Pickup for Bass is the first bass pickup which sends an individual output for each string of a 4, 5 or 6-string bass. This allows devices like the V-Bass to process each string individually, resulting in stunning bass guitar models, polyphonic pitch shifting and much more. The GK-2B can be easily user-installed on standard electric basses. First of all the unit has an awkward shape making it extremely difficult to find a carrying case for it. Then you guys should have used dials instead of knobs on the upper top left hand side. I’m always worried about the knobs during transport. Also I believe that the unit should have a skirt going around it. I know that this would give the unit a fuller look rather than looking like a toy. I feel maybe the unit would appeal to more potential customers, if they could get pass the look of the unit. An then experience the qualityand possibilities of this great idea.

Everything I need (literally) at my fingertips.

Quality:
Sturdy and reliable. I'm sure the pads will wear out a little eventually. When they do, I'll replace them and keep on bumpin.

Value:
The price was right. Way under MSRP.

Desirability:
In the dark, this is a very Sexy Beast. In my home studio with the lights on, she's is not to be taken lightly.

Sound:
Great sound! Knobs, sliders and pads will almost always achieve the sound or mood I'm looking for, after some adjustments and tweaks. Rarely, do I ever come away feeling like something's missing.

Ease of Use:
Still learning what this tool is capable of. So far, it's capable of a whole lot.

Support:
No problems with the instrument so I haven't had to use them.

Overall:
She's an integral part of my home studio. I spend hours on this instrument, sometimes without having a specific sound or shape in mind. After a while something usually begins to take shape. I save it and come back to it later to refine, edit, tweak, master and burn it. I Like-It-Alot!

it's a good price, and i ain't complaining.. but maybe wait till becomes a bit cheaper.. it's worth the money tho

Desirability:
hell yea, go get one if you travel and love guitar

Sound:
what an awesome amp.. the sound is surprisingly loud.. i use it at church to play for my youth, and it's so loud i have to put it on volume knob 4.. out of 10

its a VGA expansion.

Quality:
With all honesty... the GUI of this interface makes editing of midi and audio waaaaay more easier.. however, IMHO, I have found the MV to be good without the vga expansion. My only grief about the VGA is that the interface could be made a bit better. The interface will has a cheap 8-bit color resolution with a layout similar to the Fruity loops software (www.flstudio.com). Also there's no screen saver when this thing is in use....

Value:
I personally believe the VGA expansion shouldn't be an option... rather it should already be installed... Also, if you have experience with computer hardware.. you could probably make your own expansion box.

Desirability:
Despite the graphics, it will definitely make your music experience more fun, productive and inspiring..

Sound:
This add-on does not make sounds. It allows you to see sounds :-)

Support:
Only time i had to call them was when I ordered my free DVD manual.

Overall:
I'm satisfied. However you may or may not like the graphics and probably be better off without the VGA expansion. Therefore, I dont recommend buying this thing.. try to get it cheap from somewhere else or do the rebate.
